Arsenal appeal Lewis-Skelly red card

Arsenal have lodged an appeal against the red card issued to defender Myles Lewis-Skelly during their 1-0 win over Wolves on Saturday.

Lewis-Skelly was sent off by referee Michael Oliver for a late tackle on Matt Doherty. The decision, upheld by VAR, will see him miss three games, including the crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Manager Mikel Arteta strongly criticised the decision, stating it was “so obvious that today you don’t need my words.” Former officials and pundits also expressed their disagreement.

Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes was also sent off later in the match. Despite the dismissals, Arsenal secured a narrow victory through a goal from Riccardo Calafiori.

Meanwhile, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has reported that police are investigating threats and abuse directed at referee Oliver following the match.
