Kofi Adams, the Minister Designate for Sports and Recreation, has emphasized his commitment to developing all sporting disciplines in Ghana, not just football or the Black Stars. The Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency outlined his vision during an interview on GHOne TV, stressing the importance of equity in sports funding and attention.
“Sports is not football; sports is not Black Stars. Sports go beyond football, and football should go beyond Black Stars. But, of course, Black Stars is the ultimate. We want to see our Black Stars back again,” Adams stated.
While acknowledging the significance of football and the national team, Adams pledged to address the longstanding complaints about the Sports Ministry’s perceived bias toward the Black Stars at the expense of other sports and national teams.
Adams highlighted the diverse responsibilities of the Sports Minister, noting that every federation under the ministry deserves attention. “Black Stars have their management, Black Queens have their management, Badminton has their management…As a sports minister, you are responsible for all of these federations,” he added.
His remarks signal a shift in approach, aiming to build a more inclusive sports sector that empowers all disciplines and fosters a culture of broad-based excellence.
