Minority did the right thing by recusing themselves from the vetting – Franklin Cudjoe


Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has said the Minority in Parliament, led by Alader Afenyo-Markn did the right thing by recusing themselves from the vetting of the ministerial when the speaker ruled that the committee be reconstituted.

He says that the recusal of the Minrooty was a mark of respect for the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bgabin.

“I think the minority did the right thing to recuse themselves from the vetting. They are respecting the Speaker’s directive that the Appointments Committee be reconstituted immediately following the suspension of 4 members. That is Hon.Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin‘ mark of leadership l referred to,” he wrote on Facebook on Friday.

Referencing the Speaker’s directive, Afenyo-Markin, raised the issue with Committee Chairman, Bernard Ahiafor,  leading to the boycott.

He wanted consultations with the Speaker regarding the committee’s reconstitution. But the Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga indicated that the Speaker had rescheduled the meeting for Monday, February 3, 2025, due to his current unavailability.
